Rattle and Hum, U2

Rattle and Hum, U2

This week is an album from one of the biggest bands in the world. U2’s ‘Rattle and Hum’ is a mix of studio tracks and live performances from the Joshua Tree Tour of 1987, mostly from the final leg in the States. The band were tight after touring for a year and playing night after night, which is what makes it so good. All the tracks are awesome however one stands out for me: Song 3, Side 3 ‘When Love Comes To Town’. Recorded at the historic Sun Studio in Memphis and featuring the legend B.B. King, this song was credited with resurrecting blues when the music scene was dominated by big hair rock and synthetic pop. B.B performed with such passion it turned a new generation to the genre and brought him a huge number of new fans, even winning an MTV music award for best video. Killer album, great songs, awesome musicianship - if you don’t have it already, check out your local record store online and get a copy - DS
