DISPLAYABLE vinyl of the week. For my 50th, my BIL and all-round top bloke got me a ticket to see the legendary Colin Hay… Not only did Mr Hay front a little band called Men At Work, but he’s also carved out a rather impressive career as a solo artist - and he puts on one hell of a good show. Full of hilarious anecdotes from his years of touring, he engages his audience like very few can. Then there’s his voice, perhaps even better now than back in his heyday. The set contained all the songs that made him famous, as well his more recent work. It’s not easy to pick a favourite, but when he sang Beautiful World, it gave me goosebumps. I was lucky enough to up pick up a signed copy of one of his more recent albums, Fierce Mercy, which I can also highly recommend. What a privilege, to see a master at work, performing his own particular form of magic on stage. Best. Gift. Ever.
